Frequently Asked Questions

What are Flower Essences?

Flower Essences are vibrational remedies. The energy of the plant is infused in Spring water and preserved with the addition of brandy. They work within the subtle energy field of the body restoring balance on the emotional, physical and spiritual levels.

How do I choose an Essence ?

There are many ways of choosing an essence either by browsing in our Essence library, using the select a symptom menu, or by looking up plants that you have a particular affinity with. Often a gut feeling is a good indication of being on the right track. Writing a list of the essences that you are drawn to and refining it based on their profile is also a useful way to proceed. Dowsing and kinesiology can also be used where appropriate.

How do I take the Essences ?

The single Stock Essences are concentrated and can be diluted to make a dosage bottle ~ simply fill a clean dropper bottle 50/50 with brandy and spring water and add 7 drops of Stock Essence. Alternatively, taking drops straight from the Stock bottle is also fine. The Essences can also be combined, by choosing up to 7 Essences, and using 3 drops of each Stock Essence. We are happy to do this for you, and offer a service where we can make individual combinations. Combination Essences are generally taken straight from the bottle without diluting.

Are there any side effects ?

The Essences often work on an emotional level, so there are generally no physical side effects from the Essences themselves. However, very rarely an individual may experience a‘healing crisis’. This can take the form of a physical reaction such as a fever or headaches as rebalancing occurs as part of the healing process.

Do they conflict with other medication ?

No.

How do they work?

Flower Essences work through the principles of quantum physics. The basic premise is that everything is energy vibrating at different rates. It is well documented that human beings have many different vibrational fields including the physical, emotional and auric bodies. When one of these is out of balance a flower essence is very effective at restoring the energetic blueprint.

What results can I expect from a Flower Essence?

Often there is an immediate lifting on the emotional level as balance is restored. Physical symptoms can take longer.

What is different about Wild Medicine Flower Essences?

Wild Medicine Flower Essences are made at sacred sites using rising sun and full moon energy, Chalice Well and White Spring Water. They are made in co-creation with the Devic energy of the plant through the process of Plant Spirit Medicine which involves meeting the plant and working with it to create the essence.

Other applications?

The Essences are generally taken orally, but can also be used topically, which is especially useful for babies and animals. They can also be integrated with other therapies, particularly those which involve the meridians such as massage, acupressure and reflexology.

Is there an alternative to brandy?

Dosage bottles can be made up without the brandy, simply using 7 drops of Stock in a clean dropper bottle of Spring water but these must be kept in the fridge and will need renewing after two weeks.

How long have flower essences been used?

The modern era of flower essences started with Dr Edward Bach, a Harley Street Doctor and homeopath in the 1920s. However, there is evidence that flower essences in some form were used by the Celtic Druids and the ancient Egyptians.

What is the difference between flower essences, herbal remedies and essential oils?

Flower Essences ~ are made from the energetic quality of the plant, infused in water and brandy. They are taken orally and work mostly on the emotional body.

Herbal Remedies ~ are yet another form of plant medicine but this time in a much more physical form – usually using the root or leaves, and sometimes the flowers…tisanes, tinctures are taken orally or alternatively made into balms or poultices for external application. The application is usually for physical symptoms.

Essential Oils ~ are comprised of highly concentrated plant oils which are mixed with carrier oils and applied externally through the practise of aromatherapy.

What is the difference between a Stock bottle and a dosage bottle?

When the Flower Essence is first made it is known as the Mother Tincture. A few drops are taken from this and added to brandy and Spring water in order to make a Stock Essence.

A dosage bottle is created by taking 7 drops of Stock and adding them to a bottle of spring water and brandy. In this way a Stock bottle can last for many years.

What if I choose the wrong one?

It will not do you any harm and any essence will always work for your highest good.
